Our Mission
We believe every Weimaraner deserves a safe, loving, and permanent home. Whether a dog is coming from a difficult situation, a shelter, or a family that can no longer care for them, we offer compassionate, judgment-free support for both the dogs and the people involved.
Our Passion
Helping Weimaraners Since 2009
Founded in 2009, OWRAssist is a dedicated, volunteer-run, foster-based rescue committed to the health and well-being of Weimaraners across Canada. Our mission is simple: to help Weimaraners in need—whether they’re being surrendered by owners, rescued from shelters, or transferred from other organizations—and match them with loving forever homes.
As a registered Canadian charity (Charitable Registration Number: 826472268 RR 0001), we rely entirely on volunteers and donations. We do not have paid staff, which ensures that every dollar goes directly to helping dogs in our care.

What We Do:
Rescue & Rehoming
We accept surrendered Weimaraners and work with shelters and rescue partners across North America. Our team coordinates transport, fosters, veterinary care, and eventually, adoption into a carefully screened home.
Foster-Based Care
OWRAssist is a foster-based organization—meaning all of our dogs stay in homes, not kennels. This allows us to better understand each dog’s needs and personality while they receive love, stability, and care.
Matching Process
Wherever possible, we aim to find potential homes before a dog even enters our care. If you're interested in adopting, we encourage you to fill out an adoption application so we can find the right match for your family.
Volunteer Network
Our volunteers are the backbone of our rescue—providing transport, performing home visits, coordinating logistics, and assisting with fundraising events. Learn more about how to get involved.
