Surrendering a Weimaraner
Sometimes, loving your dog Means Making a Hard Choice
We understand that surrendering a pet is never easy. Life circumstances can change unexpectedly—job loss, family illness, housing issues, or challenges with the dog’s behaviour can all become overwhelming. At OWRAssist, we are here to support both you and your Weimaraner with compassion and without judgment.
Our goal is to make this process as smooth and respectful as possible—for you and your dog. We recognize the love and care you've given your Weimaraner, and we know this decision likely comes from a place of deep concern. By reaching out to us, you're taking a responsible step to ensure your dog’s continued well-being. We’re here to listen, help, and find the best path forward together.

Surrendering
Exhausted all options? We're here to help
If you’ve exhausted all other options and need to surrender your Weimaraner, we are here to help.
We ask that you complete our Surrender Application Form as thoroughly and honestly as possible. The more we know about your dog’s health, temperament, and routine, the better we can match them with a suitable foster or adoptive home.
Important: If you know in advance that you'll need to surrender your pet (e.g. moving, illness, lifestyle change), please give us as much notice as possible. This gives us time to secure a placement and ensure a smooth, low-stress transition for your dog. Please do not wait until the last minute or contact us on the day of your move.

What to Expect
Once we receive your application, a volunteer will contact you to:
- Discuss your situation in more detail
- Assess your dog’s needs and personality
- Arrange for a meet-and-greet or pickup, if applicable
- Coordinate any veterinary care or transport, as needed
We will keep you informed throughout the process and treat your dog with the same care and respect we’d give our own.
Our promise
We know this decision weighs heavily on your heart. At OWRAssist, we treat every surrendered dog as an individual—worthy of kindness, healing, and a second chance. Your honesty and courage in choosing what's best for your dog help us provide the best possible outcome. Thank you for trusting us to be part of your dog’s journey.
